Our client is a state-funded, independent research and innovation organisation that plays a key role in coordinating and supporting the national scientific community, as well as in the development and operation of research infrastructure. The organisation brings together research centres and institutes, aiming to provide a modern, sustainable and inspiring environment to foster scientific excellence. In connection with the renewal of its research infrastructure, we are seeking an experienced leader for a new, strategically significant position:

Programme Director – Infrastructure Development

Purpose of the Position

The Programme Director will be responsible for the overall coordination of establishing a new, nationally significant research centre, including the planning and management of the relocation, establishment and operation of research institutes, laboratories and functional units. The role involves ensuring the unified professional oversight of infrastructure, logistics, IT and facilities management developments, while effectively coordinating the work of various professional and implementation partners throughout the project.

Main responsibilities:

  • Leading the establishment of a new research centre and the related infrastructure development projects in their entirety
  • Managing the relocation and set-up of research laboratories, institutes and functional units
  • Directing developments in building operations, logistics and IT infrastructure
  • Coordinating the work of external and internal partners, contractors and service providers
  • Managing budgets, schedules and resources efficiently
  • Identifying risks and developing mitigation plans
  • Ensuring continuous communication between research institutes, senior management and international partners
  • Optimising processes and implementing sustainable and innovative solutions
  • Managing stakeholders and ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution at all levels of the project

Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in leading logistics, operational or infrastructure projects
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale physical relocation projects (logistics, building and IT infrastructure)
  • Experience in infrastructure development related to scientific or research environments is an advantage
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Knowledge of the domestic real estate and office services market
  • Strong leadership skills: organisation, delegation, motivation
  • Precise, disciplined and independent work ethic, with a collaborative mindset
  • Cost awareness and strong financial management skills
  • Confident command of English (both written and spoken)
  • Knowledge and practical use of project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, PMI, Agile)
  • Strategic mindset, high stress tolerance and experience in change management

Desirable:

  • Experience gained in an international environment
